The City of Fayetteville asks for input from residents on a planned improvement project on Highway 112/Garland Ave, between Poplar and Drake Streets. The project is being reviewed under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Ace because of its use of federal funds through partnership with ArDOT and because of the potential side effects to public parks, recreational properties and historic resources. More information on this project is available on the City’s website.

This one-mile section of Garland Ave (Hwy 112) will complete an important roadway widening project that stretches from the University north to I-49, tying into the new interchange improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2022 or early 2023 and is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete.

Improvements include four lanes with a center median, concrete sidewalks, Meadow Valley trail improvements, underground storm sewer, updates to aging water and sewer utilities and intersection enhancements for improved pedestrian and driver safety.

When complete, this arterial will provide another major access to the University and athletic events from the newly constructed I-49 interchange on the north. It will provide additional capacity and safety for the growing University of Arkansas campus.

Please review the below documents and plans for this project. Once you have reviewed, please take a few minutes to complete the short questionnaire below. Thank you for your input!
